To adjust the SPAM settings for your email address:

In your web browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox or Netscape), go to http://my.skyrunner.net.  Log in using your full email address as the login name (such as myname@skyrunner.net) and your email password.  This will open your Email Control Panel.

Click on the Spam Filter icon.  Make sure that the icon at the top of the spam filter screen under the Tools headings says "Disable".  That means that the service is currently enabled.  You can click the Disable icon to turn it off.  If the icon says "Enable" then you will need to click it to turn spam filtering on.

On this same screen you can make adjustments to the sensitivity of your spam filter.  The default setting is 7.  The lower the number, the more sensitive the filter.  You can safely change this to 5 without trapping "good" emails.  If you want, you can experiment setting the filter even lower, but keep an eye out to make sure it is not trapping email you want.  You can also choose whether the filter will delete spam, or mark it as *****SPAM***** and send it on to your mailbox.  Once you are confident that good emails are not getting trapped, you can set this to Delete.  If you lower the "Hits required for spam" setting, you should set this to "Mark as spam and store in mailbox" for a while to make sure good emails are not being tagged before setting it to Delete.

Now click the Set button on the far right, and your new Spam filter settings are saved.  Choose "Up level" on the top right to return to your email configuration screen.

We are currently recommending that required hits be set to 5, and that initially the filter be set to "Mark as spam and store in mailbox".  Watch your incoming emails with these settings for about a week, and if you are confident that no good emails are being tagged, you can set the filter to Delete.

You can also create "blacklists" and "whitelists" to control mail flow.  Any address in the whitelist will be allowed to come through to you without spam filtering.  Any address in the blacklist will be refused, no matter what the spam filter thinks.  Maintaining these lists is not required.  To add an address to your whitelist so that it will always get through, click on the tab at the top of the screen that says White List.  To add an address, click the Add Addresses icon.  You can make sure you never receive mail for a particular address by adding it to the Black List by clicking on that tab.
